The Festive Season at Blagdon Village

Diary posted

26th January 2016

As is to be expected there were a number of extra events during the Festive Season:

Christmas Party.

A hilarious party was organised by Rae Donaldson and Pat Gooding. It started with canapés in the bar before we all sat down in our “theatre”, the restaurant, to take part in light hearted puzzle games. Afterwards we feasted on mince pies and stollen.

Carols Singalong.

Our dormant Singalong Group was re-awakened temporarily to lead an afternoon of traditional Christmas Carols under the direction of Joyce Morgan. A good proportion of the residents attended and raised the roof with their enthusiastic singing.

Christmas Tea and Chat.

The Tea and Chat Group organised by Pam Anderson held a special Saturday Coffee Morning.  Mince pies and “posh” biscuits were served. This well attended event raised £170 for Macmillan Nurses.

Christmas Day Lunch.

Every year we have a traditional Christmas Lunch in our restaurant. Marion, our cook, prepared a superb meal, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

New Year’s Eve.

As usual, New Year’s Eve consists a meal in the restaurant accompanied by a bumper quiz. A few stalwarts stayed on afterwards to see the New Year in.
