Part of the annual activities for Remembrance Sunday at Lime Tree Village includes the distribution of poppies for the Royal British Legion.
Residents David and Carol Noyce have been distributing poppies at the village for the last six years.
This year will be their seventh and they are hopeful that they will surpass last year’s donations which were an incredible £1008.
David said: “As the village has grown in size, so has the total amount that we have been able to donate to the appeal. We are all of a certain age here where the armed forces mean a lot to us.”
David and Carol have official authorisation to distribute their poppies within the village. The poppies arrived in the village just before the end of October when they could start distributing them around the village.
David said: “We take the poppies around to everyone in the village over a two-day period. I do one half of the village and Carol does the other. Anyone that we miss will get a phone call, so everyone has the opportunity to receive a poppy and make a donation if they wish to!”
It’s lovely to see the residents supporting this fantastic charity which provides financial, social and emotional support to members and veterans of the British Armed Forces, their families and dependants.
