During October, there was one event over and above our routine activities, a talk, but behind the scenes, much more was happening! We now have a Social Committee and a Gardens Support Group.
Talk. Resident Mike Pettet showed a video to an appreciative audience of the Elan Valley in mid-Wales. His visit earlier this year was marred by low cloud and drizzle but the video showed it all in glorious sunshine. Truly a beautiful part of Wales, largely man-made and created to provide water for Birmingham.
Social Committee. Until recently there hasn’t been a social Committee in the Village since its earliest days. Three residents volunteered to join the Social Secretary and immediately and enthusiastically began the planning for the festive season. All agreed that the Committee would confine their involvement to the planning and execution of major “one-off” events in the Village as there was a tried and tested system for routine activities and there was no reason to change that.
Garden Support Group. Another welcome initiative was the formation of a Gardens Support Group. The main objective is to provide help to those residents who have their own little gardens when they are unable to maintain them themselves whilst pursuing their own interest in gardening. This will ensure that our grounds remain colourful and welcoming.
