Blagdon Village enjoyed a twinning visit to Normandy.

24th June 2015

The town of Taunton is twinned with Lisieux in Normandy and our boules team were asked to join with the official Civic party on a four day visit, in particular to play against the locals and also to join in the general festivities!

We played against teams strengthened with some ‘works entries’, to borrow a phrase from motor sport. We gave a good account of ourselves and the entente was tres cordiale, but there was no way we were going to win.

There was an official reception, a big Service of Remembrance and later a dinner with entertainment, as well as a splendid picnic in the grounds of a very beautiful chateau; we had a wonderful time!

We are full of admiration for the way our players acquitted themselves.
