Thamesfield, Henley, Retirement Villages

Residents and their guests from Thamesfield retirement village enjoyed a Christmas party, one of many events held at the Oxfordshire village.

The party was complete with a delicious buffet lunch but the staff, residents and their guests made use of the occasion by raising money for two important causes.

A raffle raised over £200 for a local boy, Charlie, who is currently battling a brain tumour called Medulloblastoma.

This money will help towards Cyberknife treatment, that is only available in Turkey, which his family have been trying to fundraise a total of £45,000 for the precise radiosurgery.

A sum of the money was also raised for OXsar, a local lowland search and rescue charity helping vulnerable missing people in Oxfordshire.

Residents also enjoyed a magnificent display of carol singing by children from the local primary school, Valley Road. It was enjoyed so much that there’s already talks of a return visit in the Spring time.
