On Thursday 02 February we held a Chinese themed lunch to celebrate Chinese New Year. Some of the residents made lantern table decorations and our team of chefs prepared a suitable menu.
For starters our residents enjoyed prawn crackers, chicken and sweetcorn soup and duck spring rolls, followed by beef in black bean and oyster sauce, chicken and cashews, noodles and fried rice. For desert we had almond jelly then fortune cookies, which the residents really enjoyed.
After lunch we all learnt about the Chinese signs of the zodiac and their characteristics. One resident brought her cockerel ornament to show the others. As it is the ‘Year of the Rooster’ she thought it was quite apt!
