The Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts, Cheshire Cat and even Alice herself stepped into a Wonderland of their own during a special tea party for Thamesfield retirees!
Villagers were invited to their own Mad Hatters Tea Party, complete with Pimms on arrival and traditional afternoon tea served on vintage bone china.
The imaginatively themed annual summer garden party was held in a marquee on a lawn by the river for both residents and their guests.
Talented chefs from Thamesfield, created some scrumptious sandwiches, cakes and scones served on a traditional three-tier cake stands.
There was musical entertainment from a string quartet of sixth form students from the local William Borlase School, and magician Robert Bone got in the spirit of the day and dressed as the Mad Hatter while making his way round each table amazing everyone with his magic tricks.
Thamesfield Village Manager Cheryl George said: “All of the staff dressed up as characters from Alice in Wonderland and a great fun afternoon was had by everyone. We were very lucky with the weather and the rain stayed away until after the party.
“We received comments such as ‘The best one yet’, and ‘That really couldn’t have gone any better’ and ‘You and your team had obviously made such an effort. It was so obviously a great success for staff, residents and their guests.”
