On Thursday 19 January the Mayor of Waverley, Cllr Chris Storey, visited to officially open Elmbridge Manor, our brand new clubhouse and apartment project.

Over 200 Elmbridge residents and people from the local area packed into the new village hall for the ceremony.

Cllr Storey told his audience: “This is my first visit to the village and I’ve been astounded by how good this new facility is; how well thought out it is too and that’s largely down to the input of residents who knew exactly what they wanted and were able to influence the design and final look.

“Congratulations to everyone who has helped to make this happen. I have to say, I have visited many facilities for retired people in this area and never seen anywhere quite as good as this.”

The Manor is a major asset to our village – it provides a social centre with a concert hall, restaurant, private dining room, kitchen, bar and lounge, meetings rooms, library, shop and surgery. Above these brand new facilities are two floors of new retirement apartments.

“This is a tribute to the residents who helped in the evolution of the building,” added Nigel Welby, our Executive Chairman. “They have helped create the best example of what sets all retirement villages apart from developments of purely retirement flats.”
