Elmbridge welcomes Godalming Operatic Society

We recently hosted the Godalming Operatic Society, which was established nearly 100 years ago and specialises in Gilbert and Sullivan performances.

Librettist Sir William Schwenck Gilbert and composer Arthur Sullivan formed a partnership in Victorian times. They collaborated on fourteen comic operas between 1871 and 1896.

Gilbert and Sullivan were extremely successful – their operas have enjoyed broad and enduring international success, and are still performed frequently throughout the English-speaking world.

Approximately 50 members of the Godalming Operatic Society visited Elmbridge to sing for our residents. This was very well attended and we already have Jonathan Veira, an opera star who has performed all over the world, booked for September.
