Our very own shop manager Kevin Gamble, who lives in Cranleigh, has raised more than £10,700 for Macmillan Cancer Support through sponsored cycle rides, recently pedalling across the 70-mile Downs Link route for the eighth consecutive year in aid of the charity.

The 65-year-old has supported Macmillan ever since he lost his brother Martin to melanoma cancer in 2008.

Kevin said: “The Macmillan nurses were so good to Martin and my family, especially his wife Tracey, so I wanted to give something back to them in his memory.

“He was very outward going and always thought of other people, even when he was ill. He never got down about it and always remained cheerful.

“I would like to thank my friends and family, and especially the residents and staff of Elmbridge Retirement Village. Everyone there has given me so much support over the years and I couldn’t have done it without them.”

Kevin, you are most welcome. We are proud to know you!
