A little bit of trivia

At Elmbridge Village, we have a monthly newsletter aimed at keeping everyone up to date with the latest goings on.

Written and edited by fellow resident Andrew Moore, the newsletter covers a range of topics, including events and activities going on that month, updates from our resident Chairman and even a joke corner!

The ‘Did you know?’ trivia section is a popular feature, with the latest instalment focusing on the heritage of the village itself.

The names of our resident Courts are taken from the boarding school that the village replaced when it was built in 1981.

Despite being in Cranleigh, Surrey, the school had a strong connection with Essex, naming its houses after local landmarks from the county.

Fairlop comes from the famous Fairlop Oak of Hainault Forest, Theydon, from Theydon Bois village, Roding, from the River Roding and Ilford, from that town.

An interesting ‘tale of two counties’!
