MP, Sir Alan Haselhurst, was the VIP guest at Maynard House this month. As well as celebrating Christmas with residents, staff and invited guests, he also performed the honour of officially opening the new Maynard House retirement apartments.
Many of the 26 brand new apartments are now occupied and Sir Alan was able to tour one or two, as well as making his traditional Christmas visit to the village’s care home where he chatted with residents.
The opening event was an important date in the village’s history. It included a canapé and sparkling wine lunch with musical accompaniment from local harpist Maria Beattie and the grand finale, carols performed by the village’s newly-formed choir.
“I am a regular visitor to Moat Park and realise the importance of continuous care support which villages such as this provide,” said Sir Alan.
“The extension to the care home and now these new independent retirement apartments with their own clubhouse, make this a highly sought-after prospect for people looking to settle somewhere secure in later life.”
