MP Neil Parish visits Gittisham Retirement Village

Neil, who has served the area since 2010 met David Thomas, Group Care Director and Village Manager Gaynor O’Dell, who gave him a tour of the village and Neil also chatted to residents who were able to give him an insight into what life is really like in a retirement village.

Gaynor commented, “Neil commented on how well maintained and attractive the village is which our maintenance team and gardeners will be pleased to hear! Everybody works hard to make the village a beautiful, fulfilling place in which to enjoy later life. This includes our team, which is responsible for the smooth running of the village, as well as the residents themselves. They make life what it is here and organise many of our social events and activities.”

Neil added “I think retirement village living really offers something special for retirees – independent stress-free living but with added security, a community feel and care available on site. I was also delighted to learn of Retirement Village’s efforts to restore and enhance any historical buildings on their development sites, turning many of these beautiful buildings into luxury communal facilities for the use of residents.”
