So much to see and do…

Debden Grange is perfectly situated to provide easy access to everything the region has to offer and to the rest of the UK giving you the perfect mix of town and countryside living – the choice is yours.

The M11 is less than 10 miles away from the village giving you quick access to the north and south, while the railway station at Audley End is only two miles from the village if you prefer not to drive. The university city of Cambridge is 18 miles from the village, but if your travel plans are further afield, then Stansted Airport is a short drive away (under 10 miles).

Debden Grange is located on the edge of the historic village of Newport, which is the perfect location to enjoy walks in the picturesque Essex countryside. In fact, Newport is the centre point of the long-distance path known as ‘The Harcamlow Way’, a figure of eight walk between Cambridge and Harlow. There are a large number of short walks radiating from the centre heading towards Saffron Walden, Audley End House and Prior Hall Barn in Widdington.

Newport village also has an active social community with a tennis club and benefits from a Village Hall where activities include a farmers’ market, bingo, keep fit, the Footlight Theatre Dance School, Newport Amateur Theatrical Society, Newport Art Group and Saffron Walden Carpet Bowls Club.

Essential amenities on your doorstep include a small independent petrol station and garage, a chemist, an Indian restaurant, a convenience store and post office. There is also a small garden centre, beauty salon, gentleman’s hairdressers and a bakery.

If you’re looking for more hustle and bustle, the pretty market town of Saffron Walden is just a short drive away. Here you will find a rich heritage of old buildings, including the magnificent Jacobean mansion Audley End House with its stunning architecture and gardens as well as St Mary’s Church, the largest, and one of the most beautiful, parish churches in Essex.

Saffron Walden is brimming with independent shops and cafés and hosts a traditional market on Tuesdays and Saturdays where shoppers can enjoy browsing and buying goods from a variety of market stalls.

For those that enjoy getting involved in the wider community there are plenty of clubs and special interest groups to keep you busy including the Thaxted Morris Men, Clavering Players drama club, Saffron Walden Round Table, Lions Club, Lioness Club, Ladies Circle, Historical Society, Probus Club and a computer club. You can find a model-flying club in nearby Stansted and the Ramblers Association in Uttlesford.
