For many people, seeing the show apartment is when everything starts to feel real. That’s why I always encourage our future residents to be as prepared as possible before they come for a tour.

If you love what you see — and I know you will! — being “move-ready” makes it easier to reserve your chosen apartment on the spot and take the first step toward your next move.

Are You Ready?

Making the decision to move into a retirement community is exciting — but for many it can be a little daunting too. At Thrive Living by Retirement Villages, we understand it’s not just about finding the right property but feeling confident that you’ve ticked all the boxes and you’re ready to take the next step.

Whether you or someone you know is just starting to explore options, or you’ve already booked to see the Marketing Suite or Show Apartment, here’s a helpful guide to ensure you're fully prepared — both emotionally and practically.

Whether you’re curious, slightly cynical or excited to know more about the retirement community we’re creating, pop in and visit us,  and either  Sam or myself  have all the information and the kit (physical model, interactive sales app and reading literature) to give you a flavour of what it will be like living at Botanical Place. This is the time, to gather all the information you need and have all the conversations you need before seeing the show apartment.

If you left the marketing suite well informed and inspired to see more, the next step is setting foot in the show apartment to see if the apartment feels like the right fit.  Here are a few questions to ask yourself beforehand:

  • Do you have an idea of your preferred apartment or layout?
    Take time to look over the options we showed you in the marketing suite using our interactive sales app — do you prefer a garden view? A balcony? Close to amenities?
  • Are you happy with the financial model and management fee?
    Understanding the full costs, what’s included, and how the fees work is key to feeling financially comfortable.
  • Do you understand the reservation process and deposit terms?
    Knowing how long your chosen apartment can be held, the deposit required, and your next steps is helpful when making a commitment. Remember with us, we ask for a deposit of £1000 to reserve the apartment of your choice, which is fully refundable should you change your mind.
  • Are key decision-makers involved or informed?
    If family members, solicitors, or financial advisers play a role, it’s good to have them looped in early. We want everyone supporting your move here.
  • Do you feel emotionally ready to move into a retirement community?
    This is a big life change — even when it's a positive one. We're here to support you every step of the way.

If you're seriously considering reserving one of our apartments, a few practical preparations will help your move go smoothly and avoid delays.

  • Home Valuation
    Has your current property been valued? It’s the first step toward understanding your budget and timeline. We are here to help and can arrange the viewings on your behalf.
  • Property on the Market
    If your home isn’t listed yet, now is a great time to begin. We can handle this for you and help every step of the way.
  • Financial Preparation
    Have you spoken with your bank, financial adviser, or family? Knowing your available funds or financing plans will speed up the process.
  • Legal Support
    We work with trusted solicitors who understand the process of moving into retirement living and can recommend these to you to take the stress out of the paperwork.
  • Downsizing Considerations
    Moving into a thoughtfully designed retirement apartment often means choosing what to bring with you — and what to pass on. We offer assistance with downsizing and removals through our trusted partner – Senior Moves.
  • Support from Family or Friends
    Having someone on hand to help coordinate your move, provide emotional support, or simply share the excitement is invaluable.

 

So there you have it, there’s nothing to lose from getting everything in order so you can make the decision when the time is right. But as our residents so often say, don’t leave it too late! I am truly excited to see the doors of Botanical Place open and see the first residents enjoying their new home and community!
