We’re delighted to introduce Rob, our General Manager at Botanical Place, part of the Thrive Living collection by Retirement Villages Group.
With a strong background in operations, property management, and community building, Rob brings a wealth of experience with to Botanical Place, including the role of General Manager at both Cedars Village in Chorleywood and Elmbridge Village in Cranleigh in Surrey.
Rob's role at Botanical Place
As General Manager, Rob is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations – from team leadership and budget management to ensuring our facilities run smoothly and safely. He works closely with residents and colleagues to maintain a positive, thriving environment where everyone feels supported and connected.
"At Botanical Place, I’m especially focused on building a strong community culture from the ground up, alongside delivering sustainability and wellbeing initiatives that align with RVG’s mission for positive ageing.”

What is Rob most looking forward to at Botanical Place?
The chance to shape a brand-new village community is incredibly exciting to Rob. Botanical Place is unique; not just in its design, but in the opportunity it presents to embed best practices and innovation right from the start. Rob is passionate about creating an inclusive, vibrant atmosphere where residents truly feel at home.
“I’ve always been driven by a desire to create places where people can thrive. This role aligns with both my professional goals and personal values - especially when it comes to creating meaningful connections and improving people’s everyday lives.”
For me, great leadership is about understanding people and building trust, while maintaining clear processes and attention to detail.
What does Rob love most about working in the retirement community sector?
For Rob, Working in the Retirement Community sector is fulfilling in the sense that he is helping to make a real difference to people’s lives. It’s about more than just operations – it’s about enabling independence, dignity, and community for older adults. Every day brings a new opportunity to support positive ageing.
"It is incredibly rewarding to see residents thrive in their community and to know that my team's efforts directly contribute to that."
Rob's thoughts on moving in to Botanical Place
"Come and visit us!", suggests Rob. "Seeing the space in person, meeting the team, and exploring our Marketing Suite – from the full-scale model to the interactive app – it really helps build the picture."
Moving at any age is a big decision and despite all our communities being very different in size and make up, we always recommend speaking to residents at other RVG villages, like Elmbridge or Mayford Grange in Surrey, to get a real feel for the lifestyle and support we offer.
Life Outside of Work
Family time is hugely important to Rob. "I have two children and love spending time with them. I’m also into running, tinkering with my old MG, and working on DIY projects around the house. Being outdoors – whether that’s in the garden or helping improve local green spaces – is something I really enjoy, especially as it ties into my passion for sustainability.”
Let’s give Rob a warm welcome as he leads the way in building a bright and connected future for Botanical Place. Keep an eye on our blog for updates as the community continues to grow and if you’d like to visit, please get in touch.
