When Lime Tree Village’s very first residents moved into their new home, it was just them and the night watchman!

Today, 10 years on, and they are surrounded by 200-plus fellow neighbours in a Warwickshire retirement village that is positively thriving with a great social scene and an endless stream of activities and events happening by the day.

For Alan and Margery Redfern, who left their home in Dartmouth in Devon, there has been no looking back and certainly no regrets.

“As you get older your outlook on life changes and we knew we needed to have some form of security around us, almost like an insurance policy,” explained Alan.

“A retirement village gives you just this. Like all insurance policies though you hope you never need to use them but in 2012 we had a health problem and our expectations on the level of support and assistance provided within the village were totally fulfilled.

Like more and more retirement village purchasers, the Redferns found their choice of plot and reserved, even before their property had a roof on it!

Alan, 89, recalled: “We did a property search along the south coast but the villages there were full of homes that other people had disregarded. Lime Tree Village provided us with complete peace of mind.”

Alan and wife Margery, 86, are regular visitors to the village restaurant and say that over the past 10 years they have met and made many good friends and acquaintances here.

“We regard the village staff as among our friends too. They are exceptional people, including the village manager Malvenia who is a lovely lady,” said Alan. “In fact, we have been so delighted with life at Lime Tree that I felt compelled to write to the company’s chairman to say as much recently.”
