Charters Village, our newest retirement village in East Grinstead, West Sussex, has been named Best Retirement Scheme in the UK.

The village, which has nearly sold Phase 1 of its properties and will be releasing Phase 2 in 2015, beat off stiff competition from other retirement developers to collect the sought-after prize in London on Thursday evening.

The Housebuilder Awards recognise the very best within the housebuilding industry and carry extra prestige as they are judged by some of the industry’s leading housing experts.

“Transforming disused land and derelict buildings of former historic value into a thriving village community for the older generation is our trademark and Charters Village is a shining example of this,” explained Sarah Burgess, Sales and Marketing Director.

“To receive recognition from our own industry peers makes this on-going project even more special. We are very proud of the contribution we are making to the provision of private purpose-built housing for the ageing population here in the UK.”

Charters Village is our purpose built retirement community on the northern fringes of East Grinstead. As well as retirement apartments and retirement cottages, there is a 60-bed care home now open and a day centre for use by the local community.

The Arts and Crafts style mansion house at the centre of the 16-acre village has been extended and refurbished to become the village clubhouse and the social hub for village life.
