Lime Tree Village resident Barbara Taylor knows the place better than most – she was a pupil there back in the early 40s when it was a school.
And Barbara – a qualified Blue Badge Guide – will be sharing her experiences in a special talk at the village on Friday, April 15th between 2-4.30pm. Her talk will cover the history of Cawston House and the many guises it has taken on over the years.

“I can remember sitting in my dormitory room on the first floor of the house back in November 1940. I watched from the window as red flames and black smoke filled the sky – Coventry was burning,” she said.
“As I walk around the grounds I remember every aspect, every building, every tree, all of which played a part in my childhood. Whilst the tennis courts, swimming pool and polo fields are no more I often stroll up Lime Tree walk, the lane lined with trees where I used to play as a child.”
Everyone is welcome to attend the talk which will be followed by afternoon tea and a tour of both the building and the grounds. Spaces are limited so it is essential to book in advance by calling: 01788 211799 or emailing: paulparker@retirementvillages.co.uk
