The Castle Village community host marquee week every year in the summer and this year was no different. This popular event sees residents get together and host a variety of events in a marquee throughout the week. The events vary each year but include the residents association's annual general meeting, games, lunches and some events inviting the wider, community into the village.

This year's marquee week ended with a gala dinner, where residents dressed up and enjoyed a menu freshly prepared by our new chef, Kirsty. The evening, complete with a black tie theme this year, saw almost 60 residents gathered in the marquee on the lawn to enjoy the event into the evening. After a welcome from the chair of the residents association, everyone sat down to a three-course dinner.  The meal began with smoked duck salad, followed by five-hour braised lamb steak served with dauphinoise potatoes and seasonal vegetables or a wild mushroom risotto option,  a light and refreshing lemon and raspberry mousse was served to end the meal.

Kirsty, who recently joined the village team, to provide a greater option and service in the mansion's restaurant, received high praise for the evening's dinner. The restaurant is now open for lunch several days a week and on a Friday evening, with many residents enjoying the food. Karen Rae, Village Manager commented,

Marquee week is a key event in our community and many residents organise their summer breaks around it to ensure they will be here to take part. Kirsty’s dinner was a highlight and I’m delighted we’ve found a fabulous chef in Kirsty and can offer great events for residents to enjoy including food like this evening.
