Our goal to be carbon neutral by 2030

As the UK’s pioneer in retirement community development, the wellbeing of our residents, and staff, is our main priority. We do our very best to provide high quality and comfortable homes and villages that people will thrive living and working within. However, our focus also extends far beyond the boundary lines of our villages.

For our residents, and staff, the welfare of the society and environment within which they reside is paramount to their wellbeing, and that of their loved ones. We have an important role to play, as property developers, to ensure we make as positive an impact on society and the environment as possible, helping to protect and enrich the lives of generations to follow.

Within the construction and asset management sectors there are great strides being made to improve the overall sustainability of the industry. The increasing use of modern methods of construction and initiatives being led by Government support companies like ours to focus on improving our sustainability. For construction, sustainability means more than just the materials we use to build our buildings. It also focuses on aspects such as the whole life value of buildings, reduction of waste from projects, creating opportunities for training and skills development as well as the impact on wider society, the economy and the environment.

We’re committed to being sector leaders in making a positive impact at a national level.

We’re proud to announce some of the ways in which we’re making our business more sustainable:

  1. We’re aiming to achieve net zero carbon on our operations by 2030
  2. We’re setting the target of sending zero waste to landfill by 2025
  3. We will champion local employment, procurement, education and training among many other initiatives that benefit the wider communities in which we develop our villages.

We’re also delighted to announce that we’re starting 2021 as we mean to go on, by partnering with Amber Energy to power the common areas across all of our villages using green energy.

We are committed to working hard* to make our villages, and beyond, better and more sustainable environments for our residents to thrive within.
