The team at Thamesfield chose a Cherry Blossom tree to join in with the Queen’s Jubilee Green Canopy initiative this morning.

The Queen’s Green Canopy is a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 which invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”. With a focus on planting sustainably, the QGC will encourage planting of trees to create a legacy in honour of The Queen’s leadership of the Nation, which will benefit future generations.

The team at Thamesfield planted the Cherry Blossom in the beautiful community grounds by the river’s edge. The grounds also include a circular walking route around the village providing good opportunities for residents to get outside, enjoy the fresh air as well as each other’s company. The residents took it in turns to shovel soil into the hole, ensuring the tree was watered and well positioned. After the planting everyone celebrated with a glass of champagne and sang the national anthem in honour of Her Majesty.

Our Village Manager, commented, ”Marking the Queen’s Jubilee year, was important to our residents and the team. We hope the tree will provide enjoyment over many years and look forward to it blossoming in the early Springtime, providing added colour to the village grounds.”
