The new West Byfleet Library will offer spaces for reading, learning, study, work and community activities. It will include study desks, group workspaces, computers and free Wi-Fi. Features will include height-adjustable desks and privacy screens.
A modern, interactive children's library
The children's library will include spaces for different age groups, reading and activities. There will be space for regular library events and a variety of events for children and families.
Meeting and event spaces
A meeting room for up to eight people will be available to hire for meetings, workshops and community groups. Facilities will include a digital display screen, charging points, access to a kitchenette and a public toilet with baby changing facilities.
Flexible spaces for community use
Movable shelving and flexible layouts will allow the space to be used in different ways. The library will host events, exhibitions and community activities throughout the year.
The new West Byfleet Library will bring together books, study space, meeting facilities and community activities under one roof. Designed to support a wide range of uses, it will provide a flexible and accessible space for local residents.
Designing a flexible, multi-purpose library will encourage greater community use, while an expanded range of new books will restore stock levels to those of the original library in 2021.
Works are due to start in autumn 2026, with the opening planned for early 2027.
