From Head Gardener to Facilities Manager
I’ve worked with Retirement Villages Group for nearly six years, beginning at Gradwell Park in Chailey, East Sussex, before moving to Paramount Place in April 2026. Before joining RVG, I spent 12 years working in horticulture, including as Head Gardener at a golf and hotel resort in Sussex.
I originally joined RVG as Deputy Head Gardener and gradually progressed through a variety of roles, from Head Gardener and maintenance to my current position as Facilities Manager, a role I’ve held for four years.
Building Experience Behind the Scenes
Over the years, I’ve completed training in facilities management, health and safety, fire door inspection, working at height, manual handling and fire safety. I’m also proud to be part of RVG’s Sustainability Committee, supporting the company’s goals while continuing to grow my own knowledge of sustainability.
My experience at Gradwell Park has been particularly valuable because, just like Paramount Place, I joined during the build and supported the commissioning and mobilisation of the village.
What Makes Paramount Place Special
Paramount Place looks spectacular, and I’ve been drawn to the development since the build first began. Its location in the heart of Royal Tunbridge Wells makes it particularly special, and I feel very lucky to be helping this new community come to life.
I’m also excited about the village’s connection with the wider community. We’re already supporting local companies in Tunbridge Wells, while Yarrow and Aluna will also be available to local people. For me, that connection is part of what makes Paramount Place so unique.
I want residents and their families to know that there is no such thing as a silly question. Whether you need practical advice, reassurance or simply a friendly conversation, I’m always happy to help.
Watching a New Community Come to Life
Although I live in the seaside town of Seaford, I’m genuinely excited to be part of Paramount Place. Having watched the community at Gradwell Park grow, I’m looking forward to seeing the same thing happen here.
Facilities management can certainly be full-on, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. The most rewarding part of my role is seeing a community come to life as more residents arrive, while solving problems behind the scenes, often before anyone even realises there was a problem
