Pat Hodson lived in a two-bedroom cottage overlooking the sea in Fowey. She had a large garden with open fires but when her neighbours offered to buy her property, she decided to take the opportunity.
“I looked at other retirement village providers in Cornwall but felt that Roseland Parc was beautifully located in Tregony and was well designed with lots of space, lovely gardens and offered easy access to the Roseland Peninsula, Truro, and St Austell.
“Although I loathed to leave the sea I realised that my old property needed too much maintenance and I wasn’t getting any younger,” said the 88-year-old, who bought a one-bedroom apartment.
“Here at Roseland Parc, the staff are cheerful and friendly; they organise events and functions for residents and we are able to go to St Mawes and Truro on a regular basis. The local bus service is also excellent. The restaurant and leisure facilities are great and all in all it is just a lovely place to live,” she added.
Roseland Parc has a swimming pool, gym, hairdressing salon, library, restaurant, bar, landscaped gardens and putting green.
Pat likes the independent living element at Roseland Parc. She walks the dogs for her neighbours; enjoys reading in the library and is keen on crosswords and watching television.
She grew up in Blackpool and when Marks and Spencer re-located their national headquarters there to avoid the wartime blitz in London, she followed other family to and also started working for the retail giant. She eventually moved back to London with M&S after the war.
Having married and divorced and with no children, Pat retired at the age of 54 and moved to Fowey to follow her love of the sea where she lived until her latest move to Roseland Parc.
“The other lovely thing about living at Roseland Parc is that I can lock up my home and go on cruises knowing that the place is being looked after by the lovely team here,”.
