Honor Blackman opens Charters Village

One of our favourite moments at Retirement Villages is the opening of a new village, which we always mark in style with a dedicated event. The launch of Charters Village was no exception, with the presence of former Bond Girl and Avengers star Honor Blackman creating quite a buzz at the special lunchtime reception.

Ms Blackman declared the village officially open with a ceremonial plaque unveiling and a speech to the 130 guests in attendance. Addressing the residents directly, she said she considered them “very lucky” to live in such an impressive place.

Following the event, the emergence of a brand new community of people is now unfolding at Charters Village, which sits near East Grinstead, on the West Sussex/Surrey border.

The individual stories of our first residents on why they chose this lifestyle, how they arrived at a decision to buy here and their first impressions of village life, all make fascinating reading.

For a glimpse of the village as it comes to life and some of our very newest residents, including Mr and Mrs Smith above, please sit back and enjoy this short two-minute film.

Welcome to Retirement Villages

Our philosophy is simple: we provide high specification retirement properties. Our retirement homes have excellent facilities and first class services within a sociable and supportive environment so you can enjoy life.

Our 14 retirement villages have become what the residents have made them: thriving communities of like minded people with calendars of social activities to dip in and out of. Luxury retirement homes, including a range of apartments, cottages, bungalows and houses, are set in beautiful surroundings with extensive facilities, perfect for senior living.

Every village shares some Retirement Villages characteristics while retaining a unique feel. The common thread is that all have been designed to give residents the time to do what they choose, rather than what they have to do, while knowing there are people around to help if they need it.

We have gained more than 30 years of experience since developing the first retirement village in the UK and on this basis, we can clearly demonstrate this model is a viable solution to owning property and maintaining a lifestyle in later years; in order words, it works financially, socially and in terms of support.

Owning your own property in a retirement village allows you to keep an investment in the residential property market, and have access to care and support on an accessible and affordable ‘pay as you go’ approach, where available.

Whether you are familiar with the retirement villages concept or just starting your exploration of the living options available to you in later life, this website will help you discover more about our villages, our properties, our lifestyle and our residents.

And there are lots of ways to find out more too. You can call us, request a brochure, come for a visit, drop in to an event or have an e-newsletter delivered to your inbox every month; just like life at our villages, the choice is yours.

There’s always so much to do
