Mr & Mrs Ladybug are the newest Charters Village Residents
The team at Charters Village always has sustainability and ways to make this beautiful community more sustainable for everyone in their plans. From growing their own hanging baskets from seed, to setting up a kitchen garden and the introduction of bees to the community, the team is always striving for the next idea.
This month along with some residents, David, our head gardener, has built a bug hotel. The hotel is designed to encourage bugs and smaller animals into the grounds. Bug hotels are a great way to increase biodiversity in an area. The hotel has been placed along the woodland walk as the team felt this would be the best place to have the greatest impact. It’s made of recycled materials and old pieces of pot and stone from the existing gardens. Residents will be able to see the hotel from the woodland walking route they built last year.
Nigel Walters, Village Manager, comments,
We always try to keep sustainability in our minds when working around the community and it’s great the residents are keen to work on projects with us. This is a small but potentially mighty initiative that will help us towards our wider sustainability goals.
