Residents at Thamesfield Village welcomed special guest Selina, a volunteer from the Thames Valley Air Ambulance local charity, to the village in October.
Over the last 12 months the residents have been raising funds for the charity through prize raffles held at their last Christmas party and more recent summer event.
Monies were also donated by Thamesfield village staff, who gave to the charity instead of sending Christmas cards.
Selina was delighted to receive a cheque for £426.00 on behalf of the charity which provides vital emergency care services in the community should they be needed.
The charity relies solely on the generosity of the community that it serves, so the generous donations made by residents, friends and family at Thamesfield was greatly appreciated.
Selina explained to residents how the Thames Valley Air Ambulance is run and funded, who were surprised to learn that the charity originated from one lady’s idea and determination.
Everyone that attended really enjoyed the talk, finding it very informative and interesting.
