Cheque presentation air ambulanceWe have raised £432 for the Thames Valley Air Ambulance through sales of a 2017 calendar produced by our talented art group and a raffle, with prizes donated by staff and residents.

Every Tuesday morning the art group meets in our communal lounge to paint, draw and even carve wood. It is very popular, attracting a crowd of residents who warmly welcome anybody with artistic talent of any kind.

Members of the group decided to compile some of their works into a calendar to support Thamesfield Air Ambulance, which of course provides a life-saving emergency service to people in our local area.

However, they were unprepared for the generosity of their friends and family, as well as staff and fellow residents of the village, who have collectively bought over 100 copies of the calendar.

“The art group’s 2017 calendar is a wonderful, creative way to raise money for a good cause,” said our Village Manager Sophia Lawrence. “They are such a talented group and many of the art works are produced purely from memory, perhaps of a place they have been to or something they have seen over the course of their lives.”

Sophia continued: “I’d like to say a big thank you to all of those who helped produce the calendar, as well as everybody who supported the cause by buying a copy. It is a fantastic reflection on our retirement community.”
