The MacMillan Coffee Morning at Lime Tree Village

Diary posted

Lime Tree Village took part in the country wide annual MacMillan Coffee Morning on Friday, 25th September. Kathleen Stubbs, as always the driving force behind the village’s special coffee morning, made sure that there were plenty of stalls for the residents’ attention.

There was the homemade cakes stall which always proves very popular, a card stall with plenty of cards to buy in good time for Christmas, a book stall, a bric a brac sales stall, a raffle and the ever exciting tombola with a multitude of prizes, chocolates, wine, biscuits and toiletries, supplied by residents.

While some people visited the stalls to spend their money, others sat in the bar and conservatory enjoying the tea, coffee and cakes which were being served.

Kathleen has organized this very worthwhile occasion in aid of the MacMillan Nurses for a number of years now and the amount has grown annually. (On our first MacMillan morning in 2006, £126 was raised.) At the end of the morning she was very pleased to be told by our treasurer, David Couzens, that this year £907.25 had been raised. A cheque for £920 was duly dispatched to MacMillan.
