Receptionist Debbie Murch, is the latest recipient of the monthly Retirement Village Star Award. The award is given to members of staff who demonstrate excellent working practices and make an outstanding contribution to the wellbeing of residents at the village.

Village manager Patrick Johnson said: “Debbie is an exemplary employee and a real ambassador for Retirement Villages and village life. Her commitment to her work is outstanding and she shows care and attention in all that she does. We recently appointed a new chef and during the transitional period, Debbie has gone beyond her normal role and helped plan and organise times and paperwork to help him settle in.“

Debbie has worked at the retirement village for the last three years and when she’s not behind the reception desk, she’ll be out on the athletics field satisfying her passion for field sports. Debbie is the British Masters Champion in her age category for Hammer, Shot and Heavy Weight throw!

Athletics is a real family affair with her husband and children all pursuing success in field sports. Her son Craig is a talented hammer thrower with a hectic schedule. He has just competed at the British Championship held in Birmingham where he finished a very creditable 5th with his opening throw of 69.20m. This was just shy of his recently achieved personal best of 70.12m thrown, at the Midland Counties Championship last month.

Thrilled to receive her Star Award, Debbie said: “I am proud to work for Retirement Villages and be part of the fantastic team here at Lime Tree Village. I love helping the residents, many of whom I consider my friends and this award is much appreciated.”
