Yvonne Pope Sintes achieved celebrity status amongst her fellow residents when she presented Margaret Franklin, Chair of the Residents’ Association, with a copy of her book ‘Trailblazer in Flight’.
Yvonne was the first female Air Traffic Controller at Gatwick Airport and later became Britain’s first female Commercial Airline Pilot. She went on to be Britain’s first female pilot of a commercial jet. Her wonderful life story is available to purchase on Kindle and Amazon!
Residents at Elmbridge Village also enjoyed an extremely pleasant and enjoyable afternoon Kurling in October. So many residents were thrilled to take part – the winners were Audrey Porter and Joyce Spath, received a bottle of champagne and a box of chocolates.
And at the ‘Wine and Wisdom’ evening quiz evening, a very commendable £215.02 was raised for charity.
