Charters Retirement Village In West Sussex

Charters Village has extended a warm welcome to their newest member of the team, Leigh-Ann Hartnell.

Leigh-Ann Hartnell, Charters VillageLeigh-Ann or ‘Annie’, as she is known to the residents, joined the village this summer, after she decided that working from home as the director of her own catering company, spending time planning weddings and events, was becoming a little monotonous.

The hustle and bustle of village life was just what Annie needed, and she has spent the last few months getting acquainted with her new role as a Barista in the coffee lounge, a facility that is popular at the village.

This isn’t Annie’s first experience working as a barista; her very first job in catering was as a barista in Cape Town, a role in which she progressed to become the food and beverage manager after training at the International Hotel School in Bantry Bay, Cape Town.

Annie plans on bringing her warm and friendly nature to her role.

“I have an extremely happy disposition and a passion for working with people. The residents are so kind and friendly, and each day is an opportunity to make someone’s day,” said Annie.

Before becoming part of the team at Retirement Villages, Annie worked within the catering and hospitality industry, a job that enabled her to travel the world.

“I was working with Regent Sevens Seas Cruise lines, it was such an enjoyable job and a great way to experience the world. The only thing that made it worthwhile leaving was getting married and starting a family,” said Annie.

Annie is drawing as much inspiration from Charters Village as she did from jet setting, and getting to know residents has been an eye-opening experience.

“Having the opportunity to interact with mature individuals who live independently is such a valuable and exciting insight into life. I enjoy listening to our resident’s stories and learning about their lives, and realising how life has changed over the years.

“There is a certain happiness knowing that the residents at Charters Village, and other Retirement Villages sites, still thoroughly enjoy their life.”

Annie plans on concentrating on resident’s feedback and praise to further her career at Charters Village, and the team all agree that she has a bright future ahead of her.
