Blagdon Village

Arts and Crafts Exhibition

Residents at Blagdon have been getting arty! Keen enthusiasts had the opportunity to cast their eyes on an excellent arts and crafts exhibition.

This all began after a trio of residents decided to form a Photography Group. They introduced it to the village with an exhibition of their own work and asked other residents to provide items which they had crafted themselves.  The response was incredible and almost every inch of the allocated space was filled with paintings, photographs, knitting, embroidery, beeswax crafting and many other items demonstrating a wealth of talent.  It was a very successful afternoon, much enjoyed by all who attended, and will certainly be repeated next year.

Curry Night

There was a welcomed return of themed evenings in the restaurant, this time with a Curry Night.  It gave the versatile cook, Dave, another chance to show off his prowess and was a very well attended event.  It is intended to hold similar events on the second Wednesday of each month – the next will be Italian, to be followed by Chinese. Plenty of excitement for the resident’s stomachs!

Musical Afternoons

With the reintroduction of musical afternoons, Blagdon Village now have a variety of residents offering to put together programmes from their own CD collections. This time, resident Vic Stillwell, entertained the villagers with some classics, featuring instruments from violin to guitar to piano. It was a great selection of well-known music and the residents are already looking forward to the next instalment.
