Almost 50% of the residents at Blagdon Village in Taunton came together to watch the Royal Wedding on Saturday over a buffet lunch.
Although the Blagdon proceedings weren’t due to begin until 11am, eager residents were already at the bar from 10.30am, keen to get a good spot to watch the build up to the service unfold.
This fantastic turn out of residents demonstrates a real community spirit at the village, a good deal of support for the Royal Wedding and a love of the excellent food that village chef, Dave Brigham, creates.
Residents manning the bar were patriotically dressed and Union Jack flags adorned the counter. A fantastic buffet was enjoyed by everyone who attended, along with one or possibly several glasses of something boozy, to celebrate Harry and Meghan’s big day. They even had their own version of the wedding cake to cut!
Village resident Mike Pettet said: “It was wonderful to be able to get together with my fellow residents and join in the celebrations. We had an excellent turnout and it was lovely to witness a beautiful wedding with friends.”
