August Activities at Blagdon Village

Diary posted

16th September 2014

August was fairly quiet because several residents were away on holiday or visiting relatives and some of our routine activities remained suspended. Even so, the favourites the First Monday Talk, Whist and Quiz Night, kept going with reduced attendance. There was however two special one-off events.

Twinning Talk. As a direct result of our boules team playing a team from the Taunton twin town, Lisieux in Normandy, we were to send a team to Lisieux next summer for a return match. Im preparation for this visit the Taunton Twinning coordinator gave us an interesting and informative talk on twinning in general and Lisieux in particular, which has whetted the appetites of those who will be taking part.

Dance Band Music. By popular request John Kinahan gave us another entertaining session of dance band music of the 30s and 40s selected from his comprehensive collection of CDs. Feet were tapping as the memories of our younger days came flooding back.
