It’s not everyday that a Cabinet Minister drops by for tea, so special measures were put in place when our Henley-on-Thames retirement village welcomed the Home Secretary Theresa May to meet with staff and residents.

Also serving as the Conservative MP for Maidenhead, Theresa splits her time between Westminster and the eastern Home Counties, visiting a variety of local establishments and places of interest in her parliamentary role.

Her recent engagement at Thamesfield was eagerly anticipated by all who were involved, including village manager Rhona Smith who organised the visit. “Hearing about Mrs May’s role and responsibilities as Home Secretary was fascinating, albeit exhausting, what an incredibly busy lady she is!”

Theresa spent the afternoon chatting with residents, exchanging stories and enjoying the cream tea that had been laid in honour of the occasion.
