As mentioned in an earlier news post, we have strengthened our board by promoting Oscar Russell to the senior role of Group Estates Director.
Oscar joined us in 2014 as Estates Manager and will now take responsibility for our group-wide property management services. A large part of his role will be to work with village managers and residents to ensure our communities run smoothly and efficiently, as well as make operational improvements.
This keeps our residents happy and comfortable and decreases our costs, helping us to keep our service charges to residents low.
Oscar previously worked in leasehold block management with responsibility for large portfolios in and around London for a number of leading developers. This experience will stand Oscar in good stead in his new role.
“At Retirement Villages the focus is on our residents and their wellbeing, as well as the buildings we manage, and I love this aspect of my work,” says Oscar. “My new role is similar to what I was doing before, but with a much wider remit of responsibility and I take this very seriously.”
“I adopt a hands-on attitude to my job, spending a lot of time on-site at our different retirement villages to examine how they operate and help them continue to grow and run effectively by working with the managers. While this can be challenging at times it is also enormously rewarding and I am grateful to the company for giving me this opportunity.”
