The building has been designed to accommodate the increasing dependency of care home clients, the working environment for all members of staff and to maintain that special home from home feel.
It is set in mature open countryside with views across the surrounding valley and the landscaped palm garden with water feature.
The majority of clients are 65 plus and most receive nursing as well as personal care. We are able to care for people who have a physical disability, short term memory loss, or are terminally ill and offer a range of care options including respite care, convalescence, short term arrangements and care on a long term basis.
We have close links with GPs, district nurses and pharmacists and provide an escort for visits to hospital or clinics as required. Our highly trained staff are available 24 hours a day to offer added peace of mind.
Accommodation Facilities
The home is built on two levels; Cornelly, the lower ‘countryside’ level and Carne, the upper ‘coastal’ level. They are serviced by two lifts.
Each bedroom has its own en suite and is fully furnished but residents are encouraged to bring their own personal items to make their room their own. Televisions and personal telephone lines are provided in each room. All laundry is washed and ironed on the premises and a sewing service is also available.
There is a large communal lounge with coal-effect fire, and television; an activities room; a café and garden room. Additional seating areas are peppered around the building – providing pleasant outlooks. From the ground floor there is access onto a private terrace with views across the valley to the fields beyond. The Sanctuary provides clients with the opportunity for quiet contemplation.
Freshly cooked meals are served in the dining room with the professional cooks providing an excellent daily choice of wholesome and tasty food – much of it bought locally. However, if clients prefer to eat their meals in the privacy of their own room, that is easily arranged.
Staff and Training
Our dedicated and highly trained staff are on hand to offer whatever support and assistance is required and we place huge importance on ongoing training. Indeed we were one of the first nursing establishments in Cornwall to receive an Investors in People certificate for the quality of our training programmes.
Our core values are based around the following objectives:
