Given a blank canvas, the scope for the new Moat House was limitless. A large expanse of ground with far reaching views across the rolling Essex countryside offered a bright and picturesque setting for the new care home.
The building that now occupies that space, in the words of the local MP Sir Alan Haselhurst who opened it, ‘exemplifies the sophisticated needs of those in later life’.
The 60 bed care home is a modern facility where residents can enjoy the lifestyle they deserve and staff have every means available to deliver the very highest standard of care.
Externally the Moat House enjoys a secluded setting in mature grounds which include the original moat, an ornamental lake, terrace and extensive lawns.
The designer-finished interior reflects the luxury residents deserve in later life.
The Moat House has been divided into four suites ensuring an intimate feel for residents: Oak providing nursing care; Aspen for dementia care; Maple offering residential care; and Willow for those needing nursing care alongside dementia support.
Each suite has a communal lounge and dining area where residents can socialise, entertain visitors and join in organised activities.
Teams of staff work in dedicated areas allowing relationships with residents to develop naturally.
There are dedicated activities coordinators who organise daily activities from coffee mornings to pamper sessions, craft activities to music recitals.
Further development work in the coming months will see the addition of new living options at the Moat House and extra communal facilities.
