The area’s first dedicated village for people aged 60-plus has appointed its first member of staff - Wendy Jones.

Wendy is responsible for the overall running of Blagdon Village off Middleway in the Haines Hill area. She won’t have long to wait to start operations with the village’s very first residents due to move in next month.
“I am looking forward to welcoming people to the village - and I don’t just mean residents - it will be a pleasure to show local people around the site too.”
Wendy, who lives in Taunton but originates from Carmarthen in Wales, brings 38 years of nursing experience to her new role. As well as being involved in direct nursing care, Wendy has worked extensively within the management and training side of the profession.
“The role of care manager combines all of my skills and I really can’t wait to get started,” she added. “A village where people can really get the most out of their later years sounds perfect to me. I might be making a reservation myself before long!”
Blagdon Village includes 85 apartments and bungalows set around a residents’ clubhouse complete with a restaurant, bar, function room and library. The village will also have its own hairdressing salon and fitness room.
