Kevin Crook, catering manager at Thamesfield nursing and care home, scored a career high when he was named among the top five care chefs in the country.
Kevin, who has risen through the ranks from kitchen porter, was a runner-up in the Care Chef of the Year category in the National Care Awards.
As a finalist he attended the glittering awards ceremony at the Hilton London Metropole Hotel, hosted by Esther Rantzen.
“Of course I would love to have won but it’s been an amazing experience,” said Kevin, who lives in Maidenhead. “To be recognised for something I love doing is fantastic.”
Kevin, whose pastry is regularly praised by diners, cooks for around 35 residents every day – dishing up breakfast, lunch and dinner at Thamesfield, in Wargrave Road, Henley-on-Thames.
