Construction workers leave Lime Tree Village

After four years on site, construction workers have left Lime Tree Village which is now moving towards completion.

The removal of machinery, material and manpower marks the end of major renovation, building and landscaping work which has seen the 30 acre site transformed into an award-winning retirement village.

Coventry-based Benfield Construction entered into a joint venture with Retirement Villages Plc to develop the £30 million village in Dunchurch, near Rugby.

Work started with the restoration of Cawston House, an Edwardian mansion house, which is now the centrepiece of the village and provides a host of communal facilities for residents. Construction then began on the 153 apartments, cottages and bungalows, now surrounded by beautifully landscaped grounds.

Four years on, the village is a lively community of over 55s and only a handful of properties remain for sale.

“It has been remarkable to see how the site has developed during the past four years,” said Retirement Village’s property sales and marketing director Sarah Burgess. “Benfield Construction moving off site is another landmark in the development of the village.”

Benfield Chairman Clive Benfield said: “During the course of the development Benfield has built up an excellent relationship with many of the residents who have been delighted with the quality of build and the exceptional service provided. Lime Tree Village has been a very satisfying partnership project out of a former brownfield site and it has been great receiving so many positive comments from purchasers. Now that the final properties have been completed I expect them to be sold very quickly.”
