Green-fingered Shirley Palmer has scooped the first Cedars in Bloom award. And the competition was so successful it is set to become an annual event.
The competition at the village in Chorleywood, Hertfordshire, was headed by keen gardener Hilary Greenwood backed by Cedars Village Residents Association.
Two members of the locally-based Chorleywood Horticultural Society were called upon to act as judges.
Category winners walked away with gardening vouchers donated by village owners Retirement Villages . And overall winner Mrs Palmer was presented with the Malcolm Sniders Trophy by former village manager Malcolm Sniders.
“Everyone was very enthusiastic and some of the displays residents produced were beautiful,” said Miss Greenwood
