The Mayor of Rugby, Cllr Sue Peach, has been visiting Lime Tree Village in Dunchurch, near Rugby, for a tour of the development before all its properties are sold.
Cllr Peach enjoyed afternoon tea before having a guided tour of the Retirement Villages’ complex. She was shown around the communal facilities including restaurant, bar, conservatory, meeting room, library, shop and medical centre and had a tour of the beautifully landscaped grounds. A viewing of a two bedroom show apartment and the exclusive, detached Lodge were also on the agenda. Cllr Peach met some residents too, to get their first hand feedback on village life.
The Retirement Villages’ approach is unique. At Lime Tree Village there are 150 two and three bedroom cottages, bungalows and apartments, offering residents the opportunity to live independently in their own homes in the grounds of Cawston House, the renovated mansion which houses the communal facilities and is the focal point for the development.
“It’s a fabulous concept,” said Cllr Peach. “And the setting, with all the mature trees around the lake, creates the feeling of the village having been here for years. It’s lovely.”
There are a few plots left at Lime Tree Village, priced from £172,000 to £375,000.
Retirement Villages has other developments in Hertfordshire, Surrey, Oxfordshire, Somerset and Cornwall. Further villages in Woking and Devon will soon be under construction.
