Charity donation from Lime Tree Village

31 Jan 2007

A nationwide charity is set to benefit from a generous donation of bespoke furniture from Lime Tree Village.

The four, two-seater sofas were specially commissioned by interior designers for the village’s marketing suite and showhome at Dunchurch, near Rugby.

Three years on, a new showhome has now been opened at the village - dedicated to people aged 55 and over - and the original been sold.

With no further use for the gold-upholstered sofas, owners Retirement Villages were keen to pass them on to a good cause.

And so they have been presented to the Sue Ryder Care shop in Clifton Road, Rugby where they will be sold, with the proceeds helping to fund the national network of Sue Ryder Hospices and services.

Store manager Sandra Lister said:â??“We are delighted to accept such a generation donation from Lime Tree Village. To keep the services offered by Sue Ryder Care running the shops have to take a total of £37,000 every day. Every donation that helps us towards that target is very gratefully received.”

Site sales manager Rita Williams oversaw the removal of the sofas by Sue Ryder Care volunteers.

“Hundreds of prospective buyers have sat on those sofas and looked through brochures or chatted to sales staff,” said Rita. “It’s great to know they are going to support such a worthwhile cause.”
