PAUL Walsh has joined Retirement Villages Ltd (RV) as Care Director.
One of the UK’s longest established providers of managed property for the over 55’s, RV recently acquired two established nursing homes and close care facilities.
Paul has been instrumental in the adoption of the two nursing care projects and has since overseen the transfer of residents from one nursing home to a brand new one and the implementation of a new domiciliary care agency. .
“It has been a very challenging initiation, hard work, but extremely rewarding,” said Paul. “Both nursing home projects represent established, well-run organisations, with exceptional teams of staff.”
Paul, 36, has worked within the sector for the past 15 years, starting as a care assistant. Wanting to make a difference in the industry, Paul embarked on his nurse training. Returning to the private sector once qualified, he has held management roles across a wide range of care homes and regions and enjoys the challenge of facilitating the improvement underperforming homes.
He has vast experience of liaising with CSCI inspectors and working to the National Minimum Standards in a variety of care settings. Paul has worked for some of the UK’s leading sector names, most recently Barchester Healthcare and Southern Cross where he was operations manager.
Now part of the RV team, Paul added: “RV establishments will strive to consistently provide service levels above what is required by the National Minimum Standards, set trends and work towards providing the best and innovative care and accommodation in the sector.
“There will be a big focus on the social needs of our residents - treating them as individuals and encouraging them to make choices, we also have the added benefit of providing domiciliary care for residents who wish to have a more independent life in our fully assisted apartments. Equally, staff training and development will be paramount.”
Looking ahead, Paul added: “I am passionate about the care industry and care levels provided - running this element within an established, caring, profitable, and growing organisation will be extremely rewarding.”
Retirement Villages Ltd has villages operating across six counties. Its care projects are Thamesfield in Henley on Thames and Roseland Parc in Tregony, Cornwall.
