First residents move into Blagdon Village’s apartments

6 Jun 2007

The first residents have now moved into the stunning new apartment block at Taunton’s retirement village - Blagdon Village.

And they are set to be joined by more neighbours over the coming weeks - many of whom reserved their new home off plan.

Middleway House has 12 high-specification apartments some with dining room and others boasting Juliet balconies.

Interest has already been high with many over-60s embracing a new way of living that offers ample storage, no awkward stairs to negotiate and quality fixtures and fittings.

The village, off Middleway in the Haines Hill area, is being developed by Retirement Villages. The company’s property sales and marketing director Sarah Burgess said: “Some people are wary about apartments but people who’ve moved into them in our other villages have been amazed at how spacious and comfortable they are.”

When completed, Blagdon Village will comprise 85 privately-owned properties set around Blagdon Lodge, the central clubhouse with its own restaurant, bar, library and function room. There will also be a fitness room. The village will have a team of domestic staff to provide a weekly housework and bed linen washing service. A maintenance team will take care of the landscaped grounds.
