Barnardo's 'old boy' hits 65
KEN Sumner has celebrated plenty of birthdays at the site of the area’s newest lifestyle village for the over 60s. He’s an old Barnardo’s boy who went to work at the charity’s Princess Margaret School on the Blagdon Village site in Middleway in 1973.
But this year’s was special as Ken, now a maintenance assistant at Blagdon Village, celebrated his 65 th birthday.
Staff and residents at the village gathered round to toast Ken, who lives just minutes away in Churchill Way with his wife Carol.
“It was lovely to celebrate my birthday at a place which already holds so many wonderful memories dating back more than 30 years,” said Ken.
