Thamesfield residents enjoy traditional garden party

Residents and staff at Thamesfield braved the unseasonal summer rain to enjoy a traditional garden party in their stunning landscaped gardens.

A marquee on the lawns of the Retirement Villages’ owned nursing home in Henley-on-Thames sheltered guests, including their families, as they enjoyed the musical entertainment and tucked into a special tea.

A raffle, tombola and guess the weight of the chocolate cake, cooked up by staff member Liz Anderton, helped raise more than £430.

The cash is to be donated to the Chiltern Air Ambulance.

Retirement Villages’ care director Paul Walsh was just one of the directors to enjoy the afternoon.

“It was lovely to see so many residents enjoying the garden party, despite the relentless rain,” said Paul. “And we’re very proud of the amount of money raised for such a worthwhile cause.”

include the conversion of the now redundant Penlee House nursing home into further independent living units.
